Cr Nicholas Reece is an executive in Chancellery at the University of Melbourne. He also holds an academic position of principal fellow and teaches at the Melbourne School of Government.
In addition to his university work, Nick is a TV host and commentator for SKY News and a regular columnist for The Herald Sun.
Nick has considerable experience in government and policy making, having worked as a senior adviser to Prime Minister Julia Gillard and Victorian Premiers Steve Bracks and John Brumby.
For over 10 years, Nick was a director for the street newspaper The Big Issue, Australia’s most successful social enterprise for homeless and marginalised people. He is a director of the men’s health movement Movember and is one of the original Melbourne MoBro’s.
Nick is passionate about the power of education and served on the school council, including as President, of the local inner city school where his children attend. Nick is married and has three daughters.
Cr Reece chairs the Planning portfolio and is Deputy Chair of the Major Projects portfolio.
