Gareth has extensive leadership experience in local and state governments.
Gareth joined the City of Greater Geelong as Director Planning and Development in November 2018. The position encompasses, strategic land use planning, urban design, heritage, urban growth, statutory planning, building services, local laws and health. Gareth had previously worked at the City for 12 years having left in 2004 to broaden his professional experience.
Gareth joined the City from Colac Otway Shire where he was the General Manager of Development and Community Services leading a broad range of services including statutory and strategic planning, economic development, health, local laws, environment, community safety, aged care and children services.
Gareth’s executive experience in State Governments includes six years as the CEO at Corangamite Catchment Authority where he was well regarded for his ability to develop strategic partnerships and positive relationships to enhance community outcomes.
Prior to joining the Authority, Gareth was CEO of Adelaide Shores, a national award-winning tourism and recreation precinct in South Australia established by the state government to develop and manage state significant tourism, leisure and sporting facilities.
