Michael’s public service career has included more than 25 years in government in policy and communications positions. His policy career has focussed on transport, planning and environmental management, and for the last 15 years he has held several executive positions in government. He has also led the communications functions for a number of Victorian Government departments.
Michael is currently acting Deputy Secretary, Policy & Reform of the Department of Transport, the State Government department coordinating the planning, development and delivery of the transport network and services.
Michael’s role is focussed on planning for the future network; integrating transport planning with land use planning; reform of markets such as the taxi and hire car markets; policy and regulatory reform; and ensuring the transport portfolio is taking advantage of the benefits of emerging technologies, data sources and business models.
