Paul Kelly is the Chief Data Scientist at The Demographics Group. The group was founded in 2017 by Bernard Salt, and provides specialist advice on demographic, consumer and social trends for business, government and the broader public.
Prior to this Paul worked with several green-technology start-ups to help establish them within the ever-changing, government-regulated energy-efficiency schemes across Australia. He’s glad to be done with that now but can see a repeat of failures looming as Melbourne continues to grow unless a more data-driven approach is adopted.
As Melbourne continues to develop, Paul believes it’s capable of maintaining its growth along with its world-class quality of life. The answers will come down to how determined planners and policy makers are to integrate smart city technology to guide their decision making and long-term planning.
Paul holds a Bachelor degree in Science from the University of Melbourne, and is currently undertaking a Master’s degree in Data Science from RMIT University.
